Hello again, blog!

I decided I've neglected my blog for far too long (has it been over a week already!?) so tonight, I'm dedicating a post to what I've been up to for the last few days - exciting!
My first obsession is working out. Ah yes. I've come to love it and set apart nearly an hour everyday to being active. It's the perfect time to do so since it's Spring; and I must not forget to mention that I live in the country! What better place to do cardio than outside in the country? I certainly think it's better than the gym! I do several kinds of cardio, too. I interchange between Zumba, Jogging and the wonderful old Ski Machine, which I regret to say I don't like so much. I also devote every other day to strength training. Who doesn't love a strong gal? Haha.

I've also been learning how to make jewelry - yay! it's so fun! Regardless of how tedious it is, I absolutely love it! I'm learning how to do hemp and wire bead jewelry so it's keeping me busy, which is always good. Here are a couple things I've made so far:

And of course, I must satisfy my shopping urges which I tend to get on a regular basis... as a result, I have this new purse by Kathy Van Zeeland (how I love her!) I obtained some other items as well, which I may feature in upcoming blogs. :)

Sorry about the lighting and graininess of the photos, the sun was setting. I think they still turned out okay. Besides, I was able to capture a beautiful photo of the horizon!

Lastly, I've been working on a very special project - a homemade jewelry box! I'm not done with it yet but when I am, I'll be sure to post how I did it and the finished product. Can't wait! I'm off for now, take care all!

Reading is Sexy!

I just love relaxing! Well, today was a relaxation day for me. I so need more of those. Lately the stress has been piling higher and higher and I just need to let it all go and relax after a while. It feels so good! I didn’t dress up today and didn’t feel bad about it. I was extremely comfy as well as cute (if I may say so myself) and it felt blissful. Outside was supremely gorgeous out but very windy, as I’m sure you can tell. I also took a walk up what we call Cinder Road because it’s covered in coal. It was beautiful and I had a nice time with my baby brother who, of course, is also my wonderful photographer. The book I’m reading is “In A Far Country” by John Taliaferro.

Rugged Chic

I was in the weirdest of moods today. I can't explain it. I didn't know what to wear, what to do, or where to go. Usually when I dress up, I think I must be someplace! Today I decided it was hiking time. I'd had these boots in my closet for awhile and have been itching to wear them with something. So.... I mixed and matched around until I found something rugged, yet cute. :)
The pictures didn't turn out so well. The sun was almost blinding and it was so windy that I was doing everything to keep my hair from becoming my face. Ah well. The boots I decided I adore. That's it for today.

Oh! You're feelin' blue...

The last couple days have been cloudy, dreary and raining. Needless to say, that tends to make you feel a bit down and out. At least I do. It doesn't help that there's a lot on my mind and I can't shake off what I'm feeling. So, now I'm turning to the comfort of my writing, where I can express in black and white, my emotions. I like that words can't judge you. You write them, they're there and they accept wherever and however you place them. They are able to show in as much or minimal detail how you feel, what you think and can translate things to the reader that otherwise may not be understood. That's why I love to write. I love words. I love art because it too, can show emotion the way nothing else can. I want to post a couple pieces that I have captured. First, there is the girl taking in the scent of the flower. She looks so carefree and the flower is so delicate, yet offers itself as a thing of beauty that someone can find peace and relaxation from. Most of my artwork takes me less than five minutes, but I think this piece reveals how something so small can give you so much; finding peace in the simplest of life's joys and God's creations. Next is the photo of the sunrise. Oh, how good it feels to take a walk in the earliest of dawn and see the sunrise! That day was particularly chilly; fog surrounded the hills, trees and countryside but the sun shone through the haze and brought forth its beauty on everything it gazed upon. My wish is for everyone who is needing something, feeling down, or maybe just needs their spirit uplifted, look to the simple things and realize how blessed you really are. ~

Shades and Braids

I took these pictures the other day and decided to post them. I don't know why but I was feeling very 70's. I picture myself in this outfit riding horseback in the woods, stopping by a beautiful lake and reading a good classic book. The scenery was just so pretty here.... can you believe this is my backyard?! Well it kind of is. I didn't even know it was back there until I took a little walk in the woods behind my house. I think it's just lovely.

Retro Flirt

Today embraced me with sunshine. It was beautiful.... almost more than my old little Kodak Easy Share camera could take! (I know, I desperately need a new one but this will have to do for now.) Despite all it's warm looks of sunshine and cheer, today was chilly! However, I managed to stay quite cozy and warm.
I know it's Spring and all and you're "supposed" to wear bright tones of pink and pretty pastels, but I saw this plaid jacket in my mother's closet and instantly I had an idea! The jacket paired with the creamy beige top, denim shorts and navy tights brought this adorable look together. I coordinated the vintage leather lace-up boots with the leather belt (American Eagle) and accessories, all of which has been found at my little thrift shops I go to regularly.
And the idea about the B&W picture with the umbrella? Well, I love art and contrast. You could say I'm obsessed. I do think it made for a very artsy photo, don't you?

In the paisley mood

Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous outside. It definitely told me that Spring was finally here, getting us all ready for Summer to arrive. There's just something about the outdoors that makes me feel alive and free! Thought I'd post a few pictures I took with the help of my adorable little brother, Gabriel.

I love, love, love earthy and neutral tones. I especially love this shirt with it because of the blue. I'm also wearing a vintage turquoise ring and bracelet that I picked up from thrift stores. The clothes along with the beautiful weather made me feel so comfy! I just wanted to cuddle up on a porch swing and read a good book. It was a perfect day.

My cute 'lil photographer. He'll grow up and be famous someday. :)
